 | | A. The UK Modern Tramway File. (102 images)
Photographs of Britain's new generation of tramways and light railways in Manchester, London, Newcastle, Sheffield, Birmingham and Nottingham. This file now also includes views of Dublin's new Luas system.

 | | B. The Blackpool Tramway File (115 images)
Blackpool's tramway was, for many years, the only municipal system in the UK which survived the cull of the 1950s and 1960s. This is a series of views illustrating the variety of trams on the system, including illuminated cars, works cars and visiting vintage cars. (Note that Blackpool cars preserved elsewhere are included in the UK Heritage Tramway File).

 | | C. The UK Heritage Tramway File (139 images)
For many years, British tramway enthusiasts had, Blackpool apart, only museums to look to to get their 'fix' of tramways. This is a collection of scenes from the UK's operating heritage tramways and tramway museums including the wonderful collection at the National Tramway Museum in Derbyshire.

 | | D. The European Tramway File (439 images)
A selection of over 400 scenes from tramway and light rail systems across Western and Central Europe, illustrating the variety of vehicles in use. Many of the photographs were taken just as the low-floor era was getting under way and, in the case of Germany, include many cars which date back to the pre-reunification era and which have since been withdrawn. Regrettably, there is space only for a handful of shots from each system but the collection includes a cross section of old and new vehicles together with works cars.
|
 | | E. The Portuguese Mono Tramway File (76 images)
A collection of black and white pictures of trams in Lisbon and Oporto taken in the heat of June/July 1983.
|
 | | F. The European Heritage Tram File (49 images)
Vintage trams on display at mainland European museums or working on heritage tramways. Also included are vintage cars in action on sightseeing services on working tramways or which are available for hire on special occasions.

Welcome to the Phil T Tramway Files.
This gallery has been created to display photographs from European tram systems.
Many new photographs will be uploaded in the fullness of time and higher quality scans will replace those currently available, with collections arranged on a country by country basis from Ireland across Europe to Hungary; however, this work is unlikely to begin before autumn 2009.
Some real treats are in prospect - be sure to visit again soon! |
